The Standing Committee of the PRC National People’s Congress approved draft law to establish IP courts in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Beijing on Aug. 31, 2014. The exact shape and form of the courts are not clear at this point. However, according to the announcement, these courts will have jurisdiction on over both civil and administrative cases, but not criminal cases. The Supreme Peopel’s Court will have to submit a report card to the National People’s Congress after three years.
